How long with Complete Music? Since July 1999.
Why do you enjoy performing at wedding receptions? It is an awesome thing to impact this important day in a couple's life. There is nothing like seeing the relief in their eyes as they realize they are being helped by someone who shares their goals, and isn't just working his own ego-driven agenda.
Why do you enjoy performing at anniversaries & reunions? Anniversaries are much like wedding receptions. Very sentimental and memorable. I have seen some great Anniversaries and some unforgettable Second Marriages. I could probably build a specialty on second marriages. Reunions are great because they are not afraid to make requests for what they'd like to hear.
How do you make sure the hosts are enjoying your performance? Once the formalities are done, and dancing has begun, if ever the dance floor is not full, I check with the hosts to see what style of music might unlock the fun. Sometimes, tho' rarely, it's simply a crowd that would rather visit than dance.
What type of personality do you have? Generally medium, not too crazy. But I have the ability to say just the right things during the formalities. On occasion, a wild crowd has brought out craziness I did not know I had!
Why do you enjoy working at Complete Music? When I hear stories of famous radio DeeJays, who have notoriety, but not a clue about how to step out of their ego and just "love-on" a bride and groom, no clue of how to make themselves a part of the family, I am grateful that, by dumb luck, I signed on with this company. I am with the most professional company. Nobody is training on the variety of things we are trained on. Nobody.
What makes you unique as a DJ? I am "quick on my feet" as far as what to say at any given moment. I can sense whether or not it's right to have a little fun with people.
What is your #1 goal at your dances? To make sure every person, no matter what their age, leaves with one of their favorite songs in their head. To completely wear-out even the youngest, most energetic dancers, till they almost collapse. It's rewarding, at the end, when both sets of parents are happy, and yet the couple's young friends say they had fun all evening, and the bride gives me a hug. |
